CONNECTION JOURNAL / SIM & ESIM

A SIM is a format. A plan is an agreement.

A plastic card or digital profile identifies a mobile subscription to a compatible device. Neither format tells you the allowance, minimum term or travel conditions. Those belong to the agreement.

01

First separate the two decisions

Choose the service conditions you need to understand before choosing the SIM format. An eSIM can make installation more convenient, but does not establish local reception or change the meaning of a data allowance.

02

Check the device precisely

Read the model and regional variant, unlock status and provider compatibility information. A device may store several profiles but support a smaller number of simultaneously active lines. Confirm its actual voice and data behaviour.

03

Record the account type

PAYG, a recurring plan and a minimum-term monthly service are different arrangements. Note renewal, allowance reset and inactivity rules. A replacement profile should use the provider’s authorised journey.

04

Keep activation private

A QR code or verification code can be sensitive. Download only a profile issued through the provider’s verified instructions. Test outgoing calls, incoming calls, texts and data before retiring the previous SIM.
